We're Express Impressions, a Canadian shop that turns ordinary objects into things people keep. A tumbler becomes her tumbler; a cutting board becomes the one that comes out every holiday with the family name across it. We do that four ways — and which one we reach for depends entirely on the object and how you'll use it. This guide explains all four in plain language, then points you straight to the right sub-guide, collection, or product for whatever you're shopping for.
The four ways we personalize
Laser engraving — permanent, in the material. This is the heart of what we do, and it behaves differently on every surface. On bare stainless we use CerMark, a coating we fire into the steel for a crisp jet-black mark that won't wear. On powder-coated drinkware the laser lifts the colored coat to reveal bright silver steel beneath, so your text reads as silver-on-color. On glass the beam micro-frosts the surface for that soft etched-white look. And on wood it gently chars the grain for a warm burned-in tone. No ink, nothing layered on top — the mark is the object, which is why an engraved piece is the most durable thing we sell.
UV printing — full color, on the surface. When a design needs actual color — a logo with brand reds, a photo, artwork that engraving's single tone can't carry — we UV-print it. Liquid ink is laid onto the surface and cured solid under UV light in one pass, giving vivid, full-color detail. The trade-off is honest: it lives on the surface rather than inside the material, so UV-printed pieces are hand-wash, and the method suits smooth, flat-ish surfaces better than deep curves or textured stock. When color matters more than maximum permanence, this is the answer.
Embroidery — stitched, for apparel. Thread beats every other method on fabric. For caps, polos, jackets, and bags we digitize your logo or monogram into a stitch file and sew it directly into the garment, so it flexes and washes with the cloth instead of cracking off it. It's the right call any time the gift is something somebody wears.

Shop by recipient
If you know who it's for but not what, start here. Our recipient guides walk through what actually lands.
- Personalized gifts for him — engraved knives and tools, drinkware, and the practical pieces that get used daily rather than shelved. Browse the gifts for him collection alongside it.
- Personalized gifts for her — from etched glassware to engraved keepsakes, with notes on which finishes flatter delicate type. Pair it with the gifts for her collection.
Shop by occasion
Every occasion has its own sweet spot for material and message. These guides take the guesswork out.
- Wedding gifts & favours — couple's keepsakes plus bulk favour ideas that stay on budget.
- Retirement gifts — pieces with the weight to mark a career, not just a date.
- Teacher appreciation gifts — thoughtful, fast, and easy to order for a whole class or staff.
- Housewarming gifts — boards, glassware, and home pieces with the new address or family name.
- Milestone birthday gifts — the 18th, 30th, 50th, and beyond, with the year built right into the design.
- Corporate & bulk gift ordering — how to order logo'd gifts at volume without a single one looking off. See the corporate gifts collection too.
Shop by product & material
If you're picking by the object itself, this is where finish knowledge earns its keep — the same name looks very different on steel, glass, and wood.
- How to choose a personalized tumbler — powder-coat versus CerMark stainless, and why the finish decides whether it still looks sharp in two years.
- Choosing engraved wood gifts — how different woods take a burned-in mark, and which grains read cleanest.
- Personalized kitchen gifts — boards, utensils, and barware built to be used, with care notes per material.
- Engraved vs. UV-printed glassware — frosted etch or full color: a side-by-side on which suits which design.
- Personalized knives & tools — what engraves well on blades and handles, and what to keep clear of the edge.
- Custom embroidered apparel — caps, polos, and jackets, plus how logo size and thread count change the look.
How it works
Two guides cover the parts customers ask about most — before you order, and after it arrives.
- What to engrave — ideas & wording — names, dates, coordinates, inside jokes, and how to size a message so it reads well instead of crammed.
- Caring for engraved & personalized gifts — what's dishwasher-safe, what's hand-wash, and how to keep every finish looking new.

Tell us what you're making
Whatever the occasion, the hard part is rarely the design — it's knowing which method and finish will do that design justice. That's the part we're here for. Browse the engraved gifts collection to start, send us your artwork, and we'll tell you exactly how it'll come out — on steel, glass, wood, or thread — so the gift lands the way you pictured it. Once you approve your proof, we ship in 3–4 days.
